ABOUT ME

Hello,

My name is Umar Mohammed, 

It was a couple of years ago when I have always visioned myself working in the media industry. Throughout the years I have had a lot of support and guidance, but what keeps me motivated is being around positive and inspiring people, without them I wouldn't be in a position I am today.

I am currently a second year  BA Media and Communications ( Broad Course ) specialist at Birmingham City University , I have also previously studied HND Media & Communication at Birmingham Metropolitan College.

During my studies at university and college I have gained strong skills in production projects and theory work. I have taken part in many media production projects which has helped me identify what my strengths are in the production side of the media sector. 

Also there have been big challenges throughout my media production and one of them was managing a charity music event for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. As part of my last year on my HND course I decided to oragnise and manage a music charity event I also did some filming on the day. I had to contact the Cystic Fibrosis Trust local manager, media specialist, volunteers and several music artists to help get my event up and running. The event was a success on the day and I'm glad to have taken the challenge as it helped me identify my weaknesses and strengths in managerial circumstances.

My  theory work has mostly been based on television and film, I have a deep interest and passion in understanding about the film industry and the television industry. So far at university I have studied the modules Television, Texts and Audiences and I am currently studying Film Cultures.

I have also gained numerous of media related experiences in the Events, PR, Television and Journalism industry which have all given me an opportunity to have a wide range of media skills. I am an aspired television producer and journalist and in the next couple of years I hope to showcase my skills I have developed so far in my chosen media platform.
